After much discussion, the gold merchant agreed to settle the hundred thousand shortfall that they accused him of. He was then unhooked and his neighbors who witnessed his arrest believed he had been kidnapped.

It was at this point that the Osun State Police Command, which was struggling with the DSS, joined in the fray and indicted the DSS in a parade and charged four of its kidnapping men.

Sources within the state police command said there were inconsistencies in the police account during the so-called parade which shows everything was a montage to paint the DSS black.

First, the four-man DSS account as reported by some media was an outright lie. It was only one DSS that joined the three NSDSCs to collect the debt.

Second, even the officer was released without charging him because everything was premeditated.

Third, why did the Osun Police Command not notify the DSS that one of its men was in custody prior to the parade? There should be cooperation and coordination between agencies to rid security agencies of bad eggs in the system without compromising the safety of life and property. All of this indicates that there is a deep-seated animosity against the DSS due to some unresolved issues and vendetta.

The source said there was the case of a female police inspector who threw a birthday party and an argument ensued after some of her men who came to celebrate with her were drunk. In the ensuing scuffle, one of his men who was already drunk fell and died three days after the incident because he had not been treated properly. Osun police were later to charge a DSS officer who was on the anniversary of the murder.

The source said:

“Apart from the vendetta, the Osun Police Command conducted shoddy investigations. This is why the case of the Adedoyins was withdrawn from them by the Force Staff. You will notice a lot of inconsistencies during the preliminary phase of the case when the OAUTHC thwarts the PPRO when they say that the late Timothy Adegoke’s corpse has been taken to the University Hospital for autopsy, despite reports to the contrary.
